The need for satellite phones becomes apparent when you need and want to communicate with the office, home or the emergency services in areas where traditional mobile network is simply not available. Satellite internet is just as useful, providing a stable connection to the internet without the need for a terrestrial network to connect. With four different brands of satellite phone or internet available for hire or purchase, you can be assured that you will stay connected anywhere you go.

Milpeak is a dealer for satellite products from the Thuraya, Iridium and Inmarsat ranges. We work in conjunction with Satcom Global to provide airtime on various satellite networks. We also maintain a channel partnership with Australian Satellite Services to provide communications infrastructure for VSAT systems.

Iridium

Iridium's satellite constellation is by far the most comprehensive, with 66 inter-connected satellites all talking together to give you the only true global network. If you're on Earth, there's a satellite that will work for you.

Milpeak offers a range of products based on Iridium's network and phone systems.

Inmarsat

Immarsat's Broadband and Global Area Network (BGAN) service is the world's first mobile communications service to provide both voice and broadband data simultaneously through a single, truly portable device on a global basis. It is also the first offer to guarantee data rates on demand.

You may also be eligible for a government subsidy for the purchase of a satellite phone. Milpeak is a registered dealer under the scheme and can provide the subsidy to pre-approved applicants. For more information, read our article on this scheme.

Milpeak offers an excellent range BGAN products ranging from entry level phone and email, through to office WLAN and PBX capable systems.

Thuraya

Thuraya has a wide range of satellite communications systems, ranging from handsets which allow both voice and data transfer, to satellite modems with up to 440kbps downlink. Thuraya also has on offer a series of systems designed specifically for use at sea.

VSAT

Milpeak maintains a channel partnership with Australian Satellite Communications to provide communications infrastructure containing satellite connectivity. A major component of this line of products is our IDirect service which gives an ADSL-style connection to the internet for a fraction of the cost of a dedicated satellite link and requires only site-based infrastructure rather than the traditional earth-station infrastructure normally required for a satellite link.

These systems are uniquely placed to provide internet connectivity in areas where public carrier-based solutions are either unreliable or not available. In addition to IP connectivity, we also provide telephone gateways integrated with our VoIP exchange, providing telephone and facsimile facilities to remote site offices.
